| About the Author: Mohammad Nejatullah Siddiqi
DR. MUHAMMAD NEJATULLAH SIDDIQI, born in 1931 at Gorakhpur (UP) India, was educated at the Muslim University Aligarh and Darsgah Jamat-e-Islami Rampur. Before joining the King Abdul Aziz University Jeddah as Professor of Economics in the International Centre for Research in Islamic Economics, he was professor and head, Department of Islamic Studies and for some years reader in economics at Aligarh University. During his early academic career he launched and edited a quarterly research journal Islamic Thought. He has authored and translated over a dozen books on Islam and Islamic Economics. Some of these are: Economic Enterprise in Islam, Some Aspects of the Islamic Economy, Muslim Economic Thinking, Principles of Partnership and Profit-sharing in Islam (Urdu), Banking without Interest, Insurance in Islamic Economy (Urdu), Islam's Theory of Property (Urdu), The Road to Islamic Renaissance (Urdu), Urdu translation of QadT Abu Yusuf's Kitab al-Kharaj and Sayyid Qujb's al-'Adalah al-Ijtima'Tyah fi'1-Islam. These contributions won Dr. Siddiqi the King Faisal International Prize for Islamic Studies in 1982. |
