Belief in Allah
About the Book Although the vast majority of mankind believe in a Creator or Supreme Being, their concepts vary. Islam, in the Qur'an and Sunnah, affirms the existence and Oneness of the Creator and describes Him as having the most perfect attributes, thus enabling man to have the proper concept of Him and to establish a strong bond with Him based on the understanding of His sublime attributes. But the influence of philosophy and other ideas that are alien to Islam led to the emergence of distorted concepts about Allah.

In this book, Dr. 'Umar S. al-Ashqar discusses the wrong ideas that have crept into Muslims' minds concerning Allah and His attributes, and highlights the fact that the only correct way to understand the verses of the Qur'an and the ahaadeeth, which speak of Allah and His attributes, is the way in which they were understood by the first generations of this ummah (the salaf).

Dr. Al-Ashqar also examines modern concepts, such as the theory of evolution, and proves that they are wrong and false. Following the Qur'anic injunction to ponder the signs of Allah in the universe, he also pays attention to the study of natural phenomena which clearly point to the existence and Oneness of the Almighty Creator. Thus, Dr. Al-Ashqar affirms the principle which lies as the heart of Islamic faith and practice, namely Tawheed, the Absolute Oneness of the Divine.

Description Of Paradise In The Glorious Quran
Writing about Paradise is of great importance in view of its significance in the belief of a Muslim. This belief makes him eligible for enjoyment of the bliss and the happiness of the Hereafter. It is not a belief that is limited to the life of this finite and ephemeral world only as compared to the everlasting Hereafter. Rather, it is a great creed that links the life of man in this world to that of the Hetreafter so that his vision will not be restricted to this world alone but extends to the Hereafter.

Belief in Paradise is one of the fundamentals of faith. The Messengers of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, was asked about faith and he answered, " Faith is to believe in Allah, in His Angels, in His Books, In his Messengers and in the Last Day; and to believe in pre-decree, its good and bad."

Divine Will and Predestination
About the Book: Divine Will and Predestination. Is this a matter that is directly relevant to the day-to-day life of Muslims, or is it an obscure topic best left to the debates of philosophers and theologians? Does it imply that Muslims are "fatalists" who see themselves as helpless in the hands of an indifferent fate.

Attitudes towards The Divine Will and Predestination have always influenced Muslims' daily activities. In this book Dr. 'Umar S. al-Ashqar explores this topic in depth explaining it in clear terms for the ordinary Muslim. Drawing always on the Qur'an and Sunnah, and on the words of the greatest scholars such as Ibn Taymiyah, he covers some of the historical debates that took place within the ummah on this matter, explains the correct view, that of AhlAs-Sunnah wal-jamaa'ah.

The true Islamic concept of Divine Will and Predestination is an empowering notion. Whilst all that happens takes place within the framework of the Divine Will, man has freedom of choice within those parameters. This is a matter which is of interest and concern for all Muslims, one which will bring many benefits, both in this world and in the hereafter.
