Classical Text and Jurisprudence

Combining ethics, epistemology and moral philosophy can set a tempo for a healthy dialog between tradition and modernity. In order for any religion or system to function within a society, it has to take a form that is common and relevant to its context.

Al-Dhabh : Slaying Animals the Islamic Way
The promotion of healthy and correct patterns of food consumption is very much part of the Islamic way of life. It is the main purpose of this book to show that patterns of food consumption are achieved through precise Islamic dietary laws which specify what can and cannot be eaten. It is shown how these laws encourage a strong attachment to, and a respect for, the sanctity of life and an abhorrence to cruelty to animals.

Difference of Opinion in Fiqh
This translation of Al-Insaf investigates the historical factors and other circumstances that led to the development of Islamic Jurisprudence and the subsequent emergence of its different schools of thought. It contains reasoned judgement and objective examination of the differences among different madhahib (schools of thought).

Al-Insaf's significance to Islamic Jurisprudence does not deserve recognition merely because it is written by a scholar of repute like Shah Wali Allah. Rather, its author's fair analysis coupled with reasoned judgement, objective criticism and examination of differences among different madhahib also need to be seen in the wider context of his overall scheme of reforming the Ummah by tracing its original root

Fair analysis coupled with reasoned judgment, objective criticism and examination of differences among different madhahib.
Although a small booklet one gets the impression that the original in Arabic was aimed at scholars, especially those conversant with Tafsir, Hadith and Fiqh.

Fiqh According to the Qur'an & Sunnah (Vol. 1)
This book illustrates the many facets of our daily life according the Quran and Sunnah. This book is nicely divided into many sections starting with the Book of Purification and ending with the Book of Zakah. Each book is further subdivided into chapters which explain a specific topic in detail. Every effort is made so everything in the book is proven by the Quran and Sunnah. More volumes covering additional topics are expected in the future Insha Allah.
Volume 1 covers the following books of Fiqh: Purification, Prayer, Fasting and Zakah.

The complete set, 'Al-Lubab Fee Fiqh As-Sunnah Wal-Kitab,' contains all of the books of Islamic Fiqh and its chapters, accompanied by evidence and is presented in a clear and simple manner, in order that they may be understood by the young and the old, without blindly following any of the schools of Jurisprudence, but rather being subject to authentic proofs and following the most authoritative opinions, without fanatical adherence to any particular group. Rather the author agrees with each group when the truth is with them and contradicts them when they veer from that which is correct.

Fiqh is to achieve access to knowledge of that which is unclear through knowledge of that which is proven, so it is more specific than mere knowledge or learning. And fiqh is knowledge of the juristic law. It is said Faquha -A man has acquired understanding and so he has become a Faqeeh (A scholar of Islamic Jurisprudence); and it is said Faqiha - He has understood it, i.e he has attained understanding of it, and it is said Tafaqqaha - he has devoted himself to the acquisition of (Islamic) Knowledge and specialized in it. Fiqh has been a subject of contention among the scholars as well as layman throughout the history of Islam.

Ibn Taymiyah's Essay on the Jinn (Demons)
Ibn Taymiyah's Essay on the Jinn (Demons) By Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips has rendered Ibn Taymiyah’s treatise, “Eedâh ad-Dalâlah fee ‘Umoom ar-Risâlah”, from volume 19 of Majmoo‘ al-Fatâwâ (A Collection of Religious Rulings) into very readable English. This abridged and annotated translation is significant in that it is perhaps the first book available in English exclusively on the topic of spirit-possession and exorcism in Islam. Shaykh Ibn Taymiyah’s treatise provides a very clear, concise, and authentic view of this intriguing subject based on the Qur’an, the Sunnah, the interpretation and experience of the Companions of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and the early scholars of Islam. The translator has also added an appendix consisting of an article written on the subject of spirit-possession and exorcism by one of the leading contemporary scholars of Saudi Arabia confirming Ibn Taymiyah’s views as both relevant and orthodox.
